Concopia builds on 15 years of Conversation Salons, Innovation Labs and Conversation Cards.

Above are some snapshots from our past to give you an idea of what a future of Concopian Conversations could look like…

And below you’ll find examples of the many possible Concopian elements that we might bring to your conference, innovation lab, event or venue.

  • Celebrations & Conference Dinners

Serving Concopia Cards as the conversation menu elevates the wining&dining for special occasions.
The intriguing illustrations and questions invite diners to skip small talk and deep dive directly into amazing conversations.

This picture shows the set-up for an international conference dinner on rhetorics where the cards were also used for random, yet structured, seating arrangements, as the guests had drawn a card that matched a table, upon arrival.

  • Innovation Labs & Workshops

Concopia Cards spark great ideas and invite the participants to explore each others minds. They encourage deep listening and create a container of respectful divergence.

They are a great help when a team starts to explore a new topic. The cards invite team members to share a lot of different perspectives on the topic and seamlessly weave the grandest of perspectives with ideas for tangible solutions and differences we can instantly make in our lives. This makes for a very fertile common ground.

  • Keynotes & Training Sessions

Concopia Co-Founder and Co-creator Nadja Pass is a trained rhetorician and keynote speaker.

Her main topics of interest are civic desires, social imagination, zeitgeist, rhetorical citizenship, endangered skills and reenchantment. However – she also loves a good challenge that invites her to explore a new topic and deep dive into her inner library of life experiences, extensive traveling and skills.

  • Walk&Talks

Bringing Concopia Cards on a walk&talk significantly elevates the chances of cross-pollination between the guests. Never underestimate a breath of fresh air and walking when rejuvenating your mind during long conferences.

This picture is from VELUX’ summit of great architects, researchers and designers who work with rebuilding around the world. Exploring the new naturereserve while exchanging views and knowledge for change.

  • Icebreakers Extraordinaire

Using Concopia Cards as ice-breakers when guests arrive at a party or a conference makes everyone feel welcome. When coupled with another guest and prompted to deep dive directly into interesting questions guests warm up and feel safer when joining the conversations for the rest of the event.

Also - having experienced a deep connection with a stranger, makes them feel safer during mingling. Now only are you already connected to one person - that person is likely to introduce you to other guests.

Of course it looks amazing when using The Concopian Chamber of Wonders as an entrypoint - but handing out Concopia Cards does the trick as well.

  • Living Cards

When Concopia is in charge of planning a full conference, celebratory dinner or event, we love to bring “living cards” on stage. A person that somehow interprets the nature of the card.

The picture shows the renowned concert pianist Polina Fradkina interpreting “Containing Differences” by giving a lecture on the beauty of dissonance in classical music. Mixing art, music, nature, crafts, gastronomy into the experience certainly makes the event feel even more special.

  • Deep Listening

Our favorite way to use Concopia Cards are the ‘listening rounds’ where the participants listen openly and curiously to each others stories - without interrupting or commenting. This really changes the dynamics and it’s amazing to witness what happens when everyone is allowed to unfold their thoughts and perspectives - and how attentively we listen, when we are not constantly thinking about what me might add.

  • Roundtables & Boardmeetings

Starting important meetings by drawing a round of Concopia Cards allows everyone to check in. Every voice has been heard before the negotiations and discussions begin.

It is a lot easier to reimagine the future together once everybody’s minds have been opened, creativity sparked and participants feel connected on a deeper level.

  • Deep Concentration

Although we call Concopia ‘conversation cards’ they might as well be considered ‘contemplation cards’.

Thus, Concopian Conferences always allow for quiet contemplation and deep thinking. The combination of the numerous inspirations and sparks that occur during the conversations and the following quiet contemplation allows for thoughts and ideas to truly marinate and sink in.

Example: Concopia as a tool for innovation

Here is an example of how Concopia Cards can add the magic of great conversations to an event. Together with VELUX and The Klosters Forum Concopia hosted the event “Exchange for Change” where we gathered pioneers and change makers with in architecture, design and engineering for a day of inspiration and cross-pollination:
