Step into a chamber of curiosities and questions
The Concopian Chamber of Wonders
is a living installation: a labyrinth composed of 33 selected Concopia Cards,
each blown up to a height of two meters.
It feels like stepping inside a giant kaleidoscope: every time you turn or twist inside it, you'll discover new constellations and connections between the many illustrations, questions, and encyclopedic inspirations that encourage us to rethink and reimagine the world.
It is a veritable chamber of wonders, where you can lose yourself in reverie and fall into deep conversations with the other visitors.
Amazing setting for the first unveiling
The Concopian Chamber of Wonders will be unveiled at the beautiful library of Aarhus, DOKK1, where it will float beautifully above Aarhus Bay and close to the great gong that sounds every time a child is born in Aarhus.
A celebration of libraries as democratic strongholds
The Concopian Chamber of Wonders opens as part of NEXT Library, the fabulous library biennale where library leaders from around the world gather at DOKK1 to rethink public enlightenment and democratic agency.
We are honored that Concopia will play such a vital role in the celebration and rethinking of libraries all over the world.
In these unsettling times libraries and librarians are such important democratic strongholds.
We hope that in the coming years the exhibition will travel to many libraries around the world – creating a space for rethinking and reimagining the world.
In the midst of grand celebrations and every day life
The Concopian Chamber of Wonders will be open for a month. We love that—on top of amazing conferences such as NEXT and celebrations such as DOKK1’s 10 year anniversary—there will also be general acces for the 3500 who pass through DOKK1 on any given day it will also just stand there as the on all sorts of errands—from citizen services to study groups, from the children’s library to everyday activism.
It is such an intriguing idea that they may simply stumble upon The Concopian Chamber of Wonders as a pocket of wonders, poetry, and transformation amid the many goings-on of everyday life.
